In loving memory of a man whose heart was as generous as it was gentle.
I pay this tribute to Late Barrister Bassey Inyang Inyang, DSP rtd. We shared the same cousins, and over the years that bond grew into true family. He was someone you could trust with your worries, someone who listened, and someone who truly cared.
Ba was a man who believed in the quiet power of goodness. He carried an uncommon kindness, always striving to ease the burdens of others. Many came to him with their troubles, and he gave what he could: his time, his resources, his wisdom, and above all, his compassion. He lived a life defined by service, not only in his professional calling but in his everyday interactions.
It is painful to acknowledge that he was not always rewarded with the same sincerity and goodwill he freely gave. Yet, even then, he never allowed disappointment to harden his heart. He continued to give, continued to support, and continued to believe in the goodness of people. That was the strength of his character.
Today, we mourn him deeply, but we also celebrate a life that touched many. We honour a man who left us with examples of humility, warmth, and selfless love. His legacy will anot be measured by material things, but by the countless lives he lifted quietly, consistently, and wholeheartedly.
May the light of his good deeds continue to shine in our hearts.
May his gentle soul find perfect peace.
And may we who remain be inspired to show the same kindness he embodied so naturally.
Rest well, Ba-Yoe nnyin!
You lived with a good heart, and that is how we will always remember you.
Ekamma (Eme) Awatt.
