They say that when your children marry, you gain a son or a daughter. But in my case, I gained a brother.
Bassey Inyang wasn’t just my ‘in-law.’ He was my confidant, my partner in crime, and my dear friend. We spent countless hours together, sometimes talking about everything under the sun, and sometimes just sitting in a comfortable silence that only true friends can share.
We shared the unique joy of watching our children build a life together, and later, the pride of being grandfathers. Seeing the world through his eyes made my own life richer.
To my son, thank you for bringing this man into my life. To Chief Inyang thank you for the laughs, the advice, and the loyalty. The seat next to me feels very empty today, but my heart is full of the years we shared.
